As the holidays continue to extend due to the Corona virus pandemic ongoing across different countries of the world, everyone is left with no choice but to stay at home
Hence, parents and children have ample time to spend with one another. In order to encourage our children in their learning process, we have to make sure that they engage themselves in the best possible way, making use of the holiday judiciously
Here are some few tips and guidelines to follow that will help your kids ace the learning from home game
A school has so many benefits, among which is disciplining the students by establishing a routine for them to follow.
There’s a set time for waking up, for snacking, for playing as well as time to learn different subjects.
Staying at home breeds laziness for adults, not to mention kids. It is easier for children to not stick to their learning routines. Parents have to step in and establish a simple routine for the kids to stick to. There should be time to learn, play, eat, sleep and rest.
Once it is made interesting, children would buy into it.
This is to help the children learn more productively with the right mindset
If we are going to be realistic, it would be almost impossible to get children to study for 8 hours as they do in school. Parents can introduce learning and fun in between moments. For example, study mathematics for 20 minutes, a short break, study another subject for another 20 minutes in that order.
This system gives kids a break from staring at the screen for 24 hours and also, gives room for them yo reflect on what they have learnt for deeper understanding.
Every home is different and unique in its own way. However, it is important for parents to create space and time for kids to learn that would be devoid of distractions. Distractions like television, mobile phones, games and noise should be avoided
At a period like time, parents can spice up learning and make it more fun for their children to avoid monotony. Learning for most students is online, therefore, students should have access to laptops/smart phones with supervised access to the internet.
Aside these online resources, parents can also include other toys, crafts and art supplies, such as crayons, coloring books etc. as part of their learning resources. This is especially useful for younger students
Your child does not have to learn in isolation. Reach out to their parents and classmates be it via phone calls, video conference or online discussion forum.
This would allow them ask questions to clear their doubts and also make them see the importance of learning while at home
